About the Project

About the Project

A public building is expected to keep serving citizens without interruption: IT rooms, registry systems, security and access control, HVAC and meeting halls operate throughout the day. In Tajikistan most electricity is generated by hydropower plants, and voltage fluctuations can occur on the network during winter. Dushanbe also lies in a zone of high seismic activity, so enclosures, busbar supports and mounting details have to be assessed for earthquake loads.

For a public building of this scale, the typical arrangement is about 2 × 800 kVA of transformer capacity from the 10 kV network and a coupled main board. DevPanel boards with 2 × 1,250 A busbars, 50 kA / 1 s withstand and Form 3b segregation distribute general loads, critical IT loads and security systems from separate sections. Voltage monitoring relays and a generator of approximately 630 kVA protect critical loads when supply quality deteriorates. DevBox boards serve each floor, DevPower panels control lighting, and DevComp balances the reactive load.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

Devpan’s scope runs from the building’s main LV distribution to the floor and lighting boards.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 2 × 1,250 A busbars, 50 kA / 1 s, Form 3b, voltage monitoring and generator transfer.
  • Floor boards (DevBox): IP31 – IP41 sub-distribution boards for offices, archives, meeting rooms and IT areas.
  • Lighting panels (DevPower): Centrally controlled boards for office, corridor, façade and car park lighting.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): Stepped automatic compensation for HVAC and lift loads.

Engineering

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Seismic resilience

Enclosures are anchored to floor and wall with reinforcement, and busbar supports are chosen to withstand earthquake-induced vibration.

Voltage fluctuations

Voltage monitoring relays initiate automatic transfer on under- or overvoltage, protecting sensitive equipment.

Critical load segregation

IT, security and emergency lighting loads sit on a separate busbar, and only this section is transferred to the generator during an outage.

Energy monitoring

Power analysers on the main outgoing feeders let facility managers track consumption by building section.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the installed power of the Dushanbe Public Building?

For a public building of this scale, the installed power is approximately 1,600 kVA with a typical transformer configuration of 2 × 800 kVA. The main busbar is typically rated 2 × 1,250 A with 50 kA / 1 s withstand; the MV level is 10 kV and standby comes from a generator of around 1 × 630 kVA.

How are switchboards installed in a seismic zone?

Boards are fixed with anchored plinths and top bracing, heavy equipment is placed low in the enclosure and cable entries are left flexible, reducing the risk of overturning and connection damage.

Which loads are treated as priority in a public building?

Typically the IT and server room, security and CCTV systems, fire detection, emergency lighting and lifts form the priority load group.
