İstanbul Çamsan Park — Residential Switchboard Application

İstanbul Çamsan Park is a medium-scale project in which the residential blocks are planned together with amenity and shared living areas. On this project Devpan produced the main distribution boards, the block metering panels and separately protected supply branches for the amenity building.

About the Project

About the Project

In residential projects with an amenity building the load profile differs from that of a development made up of housing blocks alone. The pool plant room, the fitness centre ventilation, the sauna and the cafeteria kitchen are heavier items that run far more continuously than residential loads.

At İstanbul Çamsan Park the amenity building is collected on a separate supply branch. That separation delivers three benefits: the building’s consumption is metered independently, a fault originating there does not affect the housing blocks, and its compensation can be sized to its own load character. The pool plant room, because of the humid environment, is fed from boards with a raised degree of protection.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

The Devpan scope reaches from main distribution to the block and amenity panels.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 2,500 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, main distribution with bus coupler arrangement.
  • Block sub-distribution and metering panels (DevBox): Consumer metering and floor distribution.
  • Amenity panels: Separately metered and separately protected circuits for the pool plant room, fitness centre, sauna and cafeteria.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): Detuned compensation sized separately for the residential and amenity loads.
  • Landscape and common area panels (DevPower): Garden, pathway and emergency lighting circuits.

Engineering

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Segregating the amenity load

Pool, fitness and cafeteria loads are separated from the residential circuits. The amenity building is therefore metered independently, and faults originating there do not reach the housing blocks.

Degree of protection in the pool plant room

Humidity and chlorine vapour mean the degree of protection is raised for boards in the pool plant room; enclosure surface treatment and gasket selection follow that environment.

Compensation for continuously running loads

Because the pool pump and the ventilation plant run continuously, the reactive power demand differs from the residential load; compensation for the amenity branch is sized separately.

Residual current protection in wet areas

Supply circuits around the pool and in the shower areas are fitted with 30 mA residual current protection, and equipotential bonding is verified separately.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the supply separated in residential projects with an amenity building?

For three reasons: the amenity consumption has to be metered independently, a fault in the amenity building should not affect the housing blocks, and because its reactive character differs from the residential load, its compensation has to be sized separately.

Which degree of protection is required in a pool plant room?

IP54 and above is typically specified in pool plant rooms. Alongside the degree of protection the enclosure surface treatment is also upgraded because of humidity and chlorine vapour, while residual current protection and equipotential bonding are planned separately for the wet floor.

What is the installed power at İstanbul Çamsan Park?

A residential project of this scale has an installed power of approximately 3,200 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 2 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is rated at 2 x 2,500 A.
