Bayraktar Hangar Projects is an application combining production and maintenance functions in large-span hangar structures. On this project Devpan manufactured the Form 4b main distribution boards, the supply points inside the hangars and the IP54 motor control outgoing ways.

About the Project
The first factor governing electrical distribution in hangar structures is the span. In column-free wide volumes the cable routes run over the roof trusses and the supply points are taken from floor trenches and suspended systems. The second factor is the variability of use: the same volume may serve as an assembly area today and as a maintenance area tomorrow.
In the Bayraktar Hangar Projects the supply points are distributed across the hangar floor and along the roof line; each point is protected separately and metered where required. The hangar doors are high-power motor loads and are collected on a dedicated branch. Because of the dust in the production environment the degree of protection is at IP54. The high-bay lighting is divided into separate groups and energised in stages according to the usage scenario.
Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture
The Devpan scope reaches from main distribution to the supply points inside the hangars and the motor control outgoing ways.
- Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 3,200 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, main distribution with Form 4b internal separation.
- In-hangar supply panels (DevBox): Separately protected supply points reached from floor trenches and suspended systems.
- Motor control outgoing ways (DevControl): Hangar doors, crane systems, ventilation and compressor groups; IP54 enclosure.
- High-bay lighting panels (DevPower): Lighting groups that can be energised in stages, together with emergency lighting.
- Power factor correction (DevComp): Stepped detuned compensation suited to the motor and drive load.

Project-Specific Engineering Topics
Cable routing across a large span
In column-free volumes the routes are planned over the roof trusses; cross-sections are selected against the actual route length and the support details are resolved together with the mechanical design.
Hangar door motor loads
Large hangar doors are high-power, impulsive motor loads; they are collected on a dedicated branch and the protection settings are selected with the starting current in mind.
Flexible supply points
Because the purpose of the volume can change, the supply points are distributed along the floor and the ceiling; each point is protected separately and metered where required.
High-bay lighting
The lighting groups are energised in stages according to the usage scenario; because maintenance access is difficult, the selection of long-life luminaires and drivers becomes important.
Frequently Asked Questions
How are supply points planned in hangar structures?
They are planned with points distributed along the floor trenches and the roof line. In a column-free wide volume no fixed layout can be assumed; when the purpose of the volume changes, the supply points must already be in place. Each point is protected separately and, where required, metered separately.
What is the installed power for the Bayraktar Hangar Projects?
For a hangar and industrial facility of this scale the installed power is approximately 6,400 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 4 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar rating is planned at 2 x 3,200 A with a short-time withstand current of 65 kA / 1 s.
What should be watched in high-bay lighting?
The difficulty of maintenance access. Replacing luminaires tens of metres up requires a platform or a crane, so the selection of long-life luminaires and drivers is more decisive than the initial investment cost. Dividing the lighting into groups, in turn, shows quickly which zone the fault is in and makes intervention easier.
