About the Project

About the Project

A football academy combines daytime loads from teaching and accommodation with the high-power pitch lighting that switches on in the evening. Floodlight groups draw large currents at once, while indoor hall HVAC, hot water systems and dormitory loads run throughout the day. For broadcast or official matches, lighting must also stay continuous and flicker-free, which places extra demands on the distribution design.

For a sports complex of this scale, a typical arrangement is a 2 × 2,500 A main distribution board fed by two 1,600 kVA transformers and split by a bus coupler. Pitch lighting is shared between both transformers so that losing one supply never plunges a pitch into darkness. DevBox boards serve the buildings, DevPower panels manage interior and pitch lighting, a 1,000 kVA generator carries emergency and priority loads, and DevComp panels correct the power factor.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

Devpan’s scope covers low-voltage distribution from the transformer outgoing ways to pitch lighting groups and building boards.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 2 × 2,500 A, 65 kA / 1 s, Form 3b – Form 4a, with bus coupler and generator changeover.
  • Sub-distribution boards (DevBox): indoor halls, dormitories, teaching and administration buildings.
  • Lighting and power panels (DevPower): pitch floodlights, interior and external lighting.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): automatic compensation for lighting and HVAC loads.

Engineering

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Split pitch lighting

Floodlight groups are spread across both transformers, so a pitch stays partly lit if one supply fails.

Staged floodlight switching

Floodlights are switched on in groups to limit inrush currents.

Accommodation loads

Dormitory and kitchen loads are fed from dedicated DevBox boards and operated independently of the sports areas.

Outdoor protection

Pitch-side boards are selected with an enclosure rating suited to dust and rain.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the installed power for the Uzbekistan Football Academy?

For a sports complex of this scale the installed power is approximately 3,200 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 2 × 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is planned at 2 × 2,500 A with 65 kA / 1 s withstand, on a 10 kV MV supply and with a 1 × 1,000 kVA standby generator.

Why is pitch lighting shared between two transformers?

It prevents a total blackout of the pitch if a transformer or feeder fails, so training or a match can continue safely or be stopped in a controlled way.

Which loads does the generator supply?

Emergency lighting, fire systems, lifts and critical accommodation loads come first. Part of the pitch lighting can be connected to the generator when capacity allows.
