Le Méridien, Georgia — Hotel Switchboard Project

Le Méridien Georgia is an accommodation building operated to international hotel standards. On this project Devpan supplied the main distribution boards, the guest room block boards and sectionalised enclosure solutions suited to remote site logistics.

About the Project

About the Project

On hotel projects abroad, logistics is as decisive as the technical design. Transport of the boards, the customs process, site erection and commissioning all have to be planned within a single programme. If an enclosure fails to reach site, or if a dimensional mismatch appears during erection, the hotel opening date is affected directly.

At Le Méridien Georgia the boards are manufactured in sections that suit the transport dimensions, and the site joining details are prepared during manufacture. A standard check list is defined for commissioning. On the electrical side the guest room blocks, the kitchen, the spa and the meeting areas are fed from separate branches, and the medium voltage level within the facility is 10 kV.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

The Devpan scope reaches from low voltage main distribution to the guest room floor boards and the kitchen and spa technical area supplies.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 2,500 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, main distribution manufactured in sections that suit the transport dimensions.
  • Guest room floor boards (DevBox): Separately protected supply and local metering for each room group.
  • Kitchen, laundry and spa branches: Separately metered supply with a degree of protection suited to a humid environment.
  • Motor control (DevControl): Motor outgoing ways for chiller groups, ventilation and the pool plant room.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp) and lighting (DevPower): Detuned compensation, lobby, façade and landscape lighting.

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Transport and site joining plan

The boards are manufactured in sections that suit the transport corridor; busbar connection points and enclosure joining components are prepared in the works, which removes any need for adaptation on site.

Compliance with international hotel standards

Chain hotel operators apply their own technical standards; the protection discrimination plan, the measurement points and the labelling are prepared in line with that standard.

Spa and pool plant room

Because of humidity and chlorine vapour, the degree of protection of the boards in these areas is raised and residual current protection is planned according to wet area requirements.

Commissioning check list

Insulation resistance, phase sequence, protection settings and functional tests are carried out to a standard list; the handover file is completed before opening.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How is switchboard logistics planned on projects abroad?

Before manufacture begins, the narrowest point of the transport corridor is established and the enclosure is divided into sections to suit that dimension. The site joining details are prepared in the works, the erection sequence is defined and a standard check list is created for commissioning. No adaptation work is then needed on site.

What is the installed power at Le Méridien Georgia?

A hotel project of this scale has an installed power of approximately 3,200 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 2 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is rated at 2 x 2,500 A and the medium voltage level within the facility is 10 kV.

How do chain hotel standards affect switchboard design?

Chain operators usually apply their own technical specifications: they ask for particular measurement points, particular levels of redundancy and standard labelling. Those requirements are written into the project at the single-line diagram stage; if they are added later, the enclosure itself has to be altered.

Do you have a project of a similar scale?

Send us your single-line diagram, your transformer rating or simply your load list. Our engineering team runs the short-circuit and discrimination study and defines the form of separation and busbar cross-section with you.
