Meydan Başakşehir — Residential and Mixed-Use Switchboard Project

Meydan Başakşehir is a mixed-use development combining residential blocks with retail units and a large car park. Devpan produced the main distribution boards, the block sub-distribution boards and the car park and retail unit panels.

About the Project

About the Project

In residentially weighted mixed-use projects the item most often overlooked is the car park. An enclosed car park carries ventilation, jet fans, lighting, fire detection and a steadily growing electric vehicle charging load at the same time. Together these can approach the common-area consumption of the residential blocks.

At Meydan Başakşehir the car park load is collected on a dedicated branch with its own protection stage. The retail units are supplied independently of residential metering, since their operating hours and tariff structure differ. Residential blocks are distributed evenly across two busbars, so that load can be transferred in a controlled way if a transformer is lost.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

The Devpan scope reaches from main distribution to the block, retail unit and car park panels. Separate management of the car park load is the distinctive theme of the design.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 3,200 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, with bus coupler arrangement.
  • Block sub-distribution and metering panels (DevBox): Consumer metering and floor distribution in the residential blocks.
  • Retail unit panels: Separately metered supply arranged for staged shop energisation.
  • Car park panels (DevPower): Lighting, jet fan supply, fire scenario segregation and reserved capacity for charging infrastructure.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): Detuned automatic stepped compensation.

Engineering

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Separate management of the car park load

Ventilation, lighting and jet fan groups are collected on a dedicated branch. This clarifies cost sharing and keeps the relevant circuits independent under a fire scenario.

Capacity reserved for electric vehicle charging

Busbar and outgoing capacity for charging infrastructure is reserved in the car park panels from the outset, so no intervention in main distribution is needed when chargers are added.

Separating residential and retail metering

Retail units are measured independently of residential consumers; with a different tariff structure and operating hours, the two uses are not monitored on the same branch.

Load balance between blocks

Blocks are distributed evenly across two busbars, and the coupler allows controlled transfer of load in the scenario where a transformer is out of service.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How large is the electrical load of an enclosed car park?

In a large enclosed car park, lighting, ventilation and jet fan groups together reach several hundred kVA. With electric vehicle charging added, that load grows quickly, which is why the capacity of the car park branch is left generous from the outset.

What should be reserved for charging infrastructure?

Three things: an empty outgoing compartment in the car park panel, the busbar capacity serving it, and the cable route. With these in place, chargers can be commissioned later without touching main distribution.

What is the installed power at Meydan Başakşehir?

A residential and mixed-use project of this scale has an installed power of approximately 6,400 kVA, with a typical configuration of 4 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is rated at 2 x 3,200 A.
