Tajikistan Schools — Multi-Site School Switchboard Project

The Tajikistan Schools project is an application in which independent school buildings are equipped to one common technical standard. For each school Devpan produced the main distribution and sub-distribution boards as a single repeatable type design.

About the Project

About the Project

In multi-site educational building projects the real gain comes not from optimising the individual building but from standardisation. Being able to operate schools in different cities with the same protection philosophy, the same spare part list and the same maintenance procedure is the factor that determines operating cost over the long term.

At Tajikistan Schools the switchboard family is derived from a single type design. Enclosure dimensions, component brands and the labelling convention are identical at every location. Because of the structure of the Tajik network, the medium voltage inside the site is at 10 kV and each school is fed from its own transformer substation. For pupil safety the socket outlet circuits are provided with residual current protection; in the winter months the heating load sets the peak.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

For each school the Devpan scope is a complete distribution set reaching from low voltage main distribution to the classroom floor panels.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 2,000 A class main distribution per school, 50 kA / 1 s, with Form 3b internal separation.
  • Classroom and floor panels (DevBox): Socket outlet circuits with residual current protection, the same configuration at every location.
  • Dining hall, sports hall and heating plant branches: Separate supply for the high-power technical areas.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): Automatic stepped compensation with small steps.
  • Lighting and power panels (DevPower): Classroom, external area and emergency lighting circuits.

Engineering

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

One type design across all locations

The same enclosure, the same component list and the same labelling are used in every school; spare part stock and maintenance training reduce to a single standard.

Matching the 10 kV network structure

The medium voltage inside the site is at 10 kV; the protection settings on the low voltage side are graded against the transformer characteristic.

Winter peak load and heating

Under severe winter conditions the electric heating load can set the peak; main distribution capacity is verified against that scenario.

Standardised commissioning

All the schools are commissioned against the same checklist; insulation resistance, phase sequence and protection settings are reported in the same format.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the benefit of standardisation in multi-site school projects?

It pays off in three areas: spare part stock reduces to a single list, maintenance staff learn one panel type and fault response time shortens. On the manufacturing side a series production effect arises, which shortens delivery time.

What is the installed power for the Tajikistan schools?

The installed power per school is approximately 1,600 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 1 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar rating is planned at 2,000 A and the medium voltage inside the site is at 10 kV.

What sets the peak load in schools in cold climates?

The heating load. In schools that use electric heating, the winter peak rises markedly above the lighting and socket outlet loads of teaching hours. Transformer and main busbar capacity are therefore verified against the winter scenario.

Do you have a project of a similar scale?

Send us your single-line diagram, your transformer rating or simply your load list. Our engineering team runs the short-circuit and discrimination study and defines the form of separation and busbar cross-section with you.
