Acıbadem College is an educational building that houses teaching blocks together with laboratories, a sports hall and a dining hall. On this project Devpan manufactured the main distribution boards, the block panels and a protection arrangement that puts pupil safety first.

About the Project
In educational buildings the user profile determines the design directly. Most of the users are children, which raises touch safety, residual current protection and panel access security to a higher priority than usual. The electrical installation must not only work correctly, it must also be robust against misuse.
At Acıbadem College all socket outlet circuits in areas occupied by pupils are provided with 30 mA residual current protection. Panel doors are specified as lockable and the internal separation is planned to prevent access by anyone other than service personnel. The dining hall kitchen and the sports hall are collected on separate branches; these two areas are the highest-power loads in the school. Escape lighting and wayfinding systems are protected separately in line with the evacuation scenario.
Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture
The Devpan scope reaches from main distribution to the classroom floor panels and the supplies to the technical areas.
- Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 1,600 A class, 50 kA / 1 s, main distribution with Form 3b internal separation.
- Classroom and floor panels (DevBox): Socket outlet circuits with 30 mA residual current protection, lockable door arrangement.
- Dining hall and sports hall branches: Separately metered supply for the high-power technical areas.
- Laboratory supply branch: A separate outgoing way serving the experiment benches that can be switched off by an emergency stop button.
- Power factor correction (DevComp) and lighting (DevPower): Small-step compensation, classroom, external area and escape lighting.

Project-Specific Engineering Topics
Touch safety and residual current protection
All socket outlet circuits in areas occupied by pupils are provided with 30 mA residual current protection; discrimination is arranged so that a fault on one circuit does not affect the whole floor.
Panel access security
Doors are lockable and the internal separation is chosen to prevent access outside servicing; panels are positioned away from pupil circulation.
Emergency stop in the laboratory
The supply to the experiment benches is taken from a separate outgoing way so that it can be switched off in one move by the emergency stop button at the teacher’s position.
Evacuation scenario
Escape lighting and wayfinding systems are protected independently of the normal lighting; the function of those branches is verified separately during evacuation drills.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which additional protective measures are required in school buildings?
Three measures stand out: all socket outlet circuits in areas occupied by pupils are provided with 30 mA residual current protection, panel doors are specified as lockable, and laboratory experiment benches are fed from a separate outgoing way that can be switched off by the emergency stop button at the teacher’s position.
What is the installed power for Acıbadem College?
For an educational building of this scale the installed power is approximately 2,500 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 2 x 1,250 kVA. The main busbar rating is planned at 2 x 1,600 A.
Which are the highest-power loads in the school?
The dining hall kitchen and the sports hall. In the kitchen the ovens, dishwashers and cold room compressors draw heavily; in the sports hall the lighting and ventilation do. These two areas are collected on separate branches because their power is high and their operating hours differ from the classroom loads.
