Çamlıvadi Avrupa Konutları — Residential Development Switchboard Project

İstanbul Çamlıvadi Avrupa Konutları is a residential development set into valley topography with extensive landscaped areas. On this project Devpan produced the main distribution boards, the block boards, the drainage pump circuits and the landscape lighting panels.

About the Project

About the Project

In developments set on a valley floor, surface water management is a direct part of the electrical infrastructure. Clearing the water that collects after rainfall depends on the drainage pumps, and if their supply is interrupted the problem stops being electrical and becomes a structural risk.

At Çamlıvadi Avrupa Konutları the drainage and lifting pumps are collected on a separately protected branch backed by the generator supply. Because the landscape lighting is spread along the valley, it is divided into small groups, each protected separately. The block boards are positioned with the level difference in mind, so that the voltage drop to the most remote block stays within limits.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

The Devpan scope reaches from main distribution to the block boards, the drainage pump circuits and the landscape lighting.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 2,500 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, main distribution with bus coupler arrangement.
  • Block sub-distribution and metering panels (DevBox): Sub-distribution stage positioned with the level difference in mind.
  • Drainage and lifting pump branch: Separately protected, generator-backed supply with automatic changeover to the standby pump.
  • Landscape lighting panels (DevPower): Lighting circuits divided into small groups along the valley.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): Automatic stepped compensation with detuned reactors.

Engineering

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Continuity classification of the drainage pumps

Surface water removal is a critical load. The drainage branch is taken onto the generator-backed supply and arranged so that the standby pump starts automatically.

Pump panels in a wet environment

Pump panels are placed above the levels at risk of flooding; the degree of protection and the cable entry sealing are selected for wet conditions.

Group segregation in landscape lighting

The lighting running along the valley is divided into small groups, so a fault in one group does not affect the lighting of the whole development.

Board position against level difference

Block boards are located where the voltage drop limit for the most remote block will not be exceeded; cable cross-sections are calculated against the real route length.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are the drainage pumps fed from a generator-backed supply?

Because when surface water removal is interrupted the problem stops being electrical and becomes a structural risk. On developments on a valley floor in particular, a power failure during heavy rainfall can lead to standing water and to flooding of the basement levels.

Why is landscape lighting divided into groups?

For three reasons: a fault in one group does not leave the whole development in darkness, a staged scenario can be applied as the night progresses, and fault finding becomes easier because the problem is confined to the group concerned.

What is the installed power at Çamlıvadi Avrupa Konutları?

A residential development of this scale has an installed power of approximately 4,800 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 3 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is rated at 2 x 2,500 A.
