Suryapı Yeşilmavi — Residential Switchboard and Energy Monitoring Application

Suryapı Yeşilmavi is a medium-scale residential project planned around energy efficiency targets. On this project Devpan manufactured the main distribution and block boards together with an energy monitoring infrastructure that measures consumption branch by branch.

About the Project

About the Project

In residential projects with an energy efficiency target the first step is to make consumption visible. What is not measured cannot be managed, so the common area loads are separated item by item and every branch is monitored independently.

At Suryapı Yeşilmavi lighting, lifts, booster pumps, car park ventilation and irrigation are collected on separate branches, with a power analyser positioned on each. The data collected can be transferred to the site management software over the communication bus. This arrangement means abnormal consumption is noticed quickly and improvement work produces measurable results. Compensation is stepped so that the risk of a reactive penalty is eliminated.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

The Devpan scope reaches from main distribution to the block panels and the energy monitoring infrastructure.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 2,500 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, main distribution with bus coupler arrangement.
  • Block sub-distribution and metering panels (DevBox): Consumer metering and floor distribution.
  • Energy monitoring infrastructure: Current transformers, power analysers and a communication bus on the common area branches.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): Automatic stepped compensation with 7% detuned reactors and small steps.
  • Lighting and power panels (DevPower): Common area, car park and landscape lighting circuits.

Engineering

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Item-by-item common area metering

Lighting, lifts, booster pumps and ventilation are measured on separate branches. Once consumption becomes visible item by item, the effect of improvement work can be tracked numerically.

Positioning of the power analysers

Power analysers and current transformers are placed immediately at the outgoing way of the branch to be measured; the closer the measuring point sits to the load, the more meaningful the data.

Communication infrastructure

The measuring devices are connected to a central point over a field bus; the data can be transferred to the site management software or to the building automation system.

Eliminating the risk of a reactive penalty

Compensation stages are selected in small steps, and keeping the reactive ratio below the tariff limit is included among the quantities monitored.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does energy monitoring provide in residential projects?

It makes common area consumption visible item by item. When lighting, lifts, booster pumps and ventilation are measured separately, it is known how much each item consumes; that makes cost sharing transparent and the return on efficiency investments measurable.

Where should a power analyser be positioned?

At the outgoing way of the branch to be measured, as close to the load as possible. A single analyser on the incomer only gives total consumption; item-level analysis requires a separate measuring point on every branch.

What is the installed power at Suryapı Yeşilmavi?

A residential project of this scale has an installed power of approximately 3,200 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 2 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is rated at 2 x 2,500 A.
