Maya Anatolium Tower — Residence and Office Switchboard Project

Maya Anatolium Tower combines residential and office functions in a single high-rise. Devpan produced the main distribution boards feeding the vertical distribution spine, the floor panels, the compensation systems and the life safety branches.

About the Project

About the Project

In high-rise towers the character of the electrical distribution is set by vertical distance. The transformer substation usually sits in the basement, while the load has to be carried hundreds of metres upwards. That distance raises both voltage drop and the fact that short-circuit current varies with floor level.

At Maya Anatolium Tower vertical distribution is resolved through a spine feeding the floor panels. Residential and office floors are supplied from separate branches, because their operating hours and metering responsibilities differ. Under a fire scenario the firefighting lift, stair pressurisation fans and escape lighting are collected on a dedicated vertical branch whose supply is protected independently of the other loads.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

The Devpan scope covers the vertical distribution chain from basement main distribution to the floor panels. Floor-dependent short-circuit current and the fire scenario are the two main design inputs.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 3,200 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, Form 4a internal separation, with bus coupler arrangement.
  • Vertical spine connections: Connection compartments matched to the busbar trunking interface and floor outgoing ways.
  • Floor panels (DevBox): Separately metered floor distribution for residential and office levels.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): Detuned automatic stepped compensation.
  • Life safety branch (DevPower): Firefighting lift, stair pressurisation, escape and emergency lighting supplies.

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Short-circuit current varying with floor level

Short-circuit current is highest on the basement levels close to the transformer and lower on upper floors because of cable impedance. Breaking capacities are differentiated by floor group, balancing safety against cost.

Voltage drop along the vertical spine

Over hundreds of metres of vertical distance, cross-section is selected against the voltage drop limit. The spine is sized to guarantee that the panel on the topmost floor still works at rated voltage.

Busbar trunking interface

Where the vertical distribution uses busbar trunking, the connection compartment on the board is prepared during manufacturing to the supplier’s interface dimensions, with no adaptation on site.

Vertical segregation in a fire scenario

Life safety loads are collected on a dedicated vertical branch whose panel compartment, cable route and protection stage are independent of normal loads.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does short-circuit current vary by floor in high-rise towers?

Because it is determined by cable impedance as much as by transformer rating. On basement levels close to the substation the impedance is low and the current highest; further up, longer cable runs reduce it. Breaking capacities can therefore be selected differently for each floor group.

Why are residential and office floors fed separately?

Because their operating hours, load character and operational responsibility differ. Offices peak during the day and residences in the evening; offices also need tenant-level metering while residences use dwelling-level metering. Separate branches keep the two arrangements from becoming entangled.

What is the installed power at Maya Anatolium Tower?

A residence and office tower of this scale has an installed power of approximately 6,400 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 4 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is rated at 2 x 3,200 A.
