Ozak Göktürk 3 — Low-Density Residential Switchboard Application

Ozak Göktürk 3 is a low-density residential project in the Göktürk district of Istanbul, planned within an existing woodland setting. On this project Devpan supplied the main distribution boards, the block boards and the landscape lighting circuits matched to the tree cover.

About the Project

About the Project

Residential projects placed inside a natural setting work under two constraints: cable routes have to be planned so that they do not disturb the existing tree cover, and exterior lighting has to be arranged so that it does not upset the ecology at night.

At Ozak Göktürk 3 distribution is resolved through a network of routes planned along corridors clear of tree roots. Because the landscape lighting is built from low-level, directional luminaires, the lighting circuits are split into small groups; each group is protected separately and can be controlled by scenario. The block boards carry fewer consumers because of the low density, which in turn reduces enclosure dimensions.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

The Devpan scope reaches from main distribution to the block boards and the landscape lighting circuits.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 2,500 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, main distribution with bus coupler arrangement.
  • Block sub-distribution boards (DevBox): Compact sub-distribution stage matched to a low consumer density.
  • Landscape lighting panels (DevPower): Lighting circuits split into small groups and controlled by scenario.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): Small-step stepped compensation suited to low and variable load.
  • Amenity supply: Separately protected circuits for the clubhouse, pool and security posts.

Engineering

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Cable routing around the existing trees

Cable corridors are planned clear of the root zone of the existing trees. That lengthens the route, so conductor cross-sections are selected against the real route length rather than the straight-line distance.

Grouping of lighting circuits

Landscape lighting is split into small groups; each group is protected separately and can be switched independently according to the night-time scenario. Both energy consumption and light pollution are limited as a result.

Compensation at low density

Because there are few consumers, night-time load falls appreciably. Capacitor stages are selected in small steps so that over-compensation at light load is avoided.

Positioning the outdoor field panels

Landscape panels are located where maintenance access is easy but they remain visually discreet; the degree of protection and the enclosure colour are chosen to suit the surroundings.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How are cable routes planned on projects inside a natural setting?

Routes are taken along corridors clear of the root zone of the existing trees. Because that approach lengthens the cable run, cross-sections must be selected against the real route length rather than the straight-line distance; otherwise the voltage drop calculation comes out wrong.

Why is landscape lighting split into small groups?

For three reasons: a fault in one group does not extinguish the whole scheme, a staged scenario can be applied as the night progresses, and switching off unnecessary lighting saves energy while reducing light pollution.

What is the installed power at Ozak Göktürk 3?

A low-density residential project of this scale has an installed power of approximately 3,200 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 2 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is rated at 2 x 2,500 A.
