Trendyol İzmir Menderes Logistics Centre — Warehouse and MCC Switchboard Project

Trendyol İzmir Menderes Logistics Centre is a distribution centre with a high-volume order processing capacity. On this project Devpan manufactured the IP54 motor control centres feeding the conveyor and sortation systems, the main distribution boards and the warehouse lighting panels.

About the Project

About the Project

In modern logistics centres the character of the electrical infrastructure is set by the material handling system. Conveyor lines, sortation units and automated storage systems form a structure in which a large number of small motors run in step. When one line stops the order flow is interrupted, and the effect spreads along the whole chain.

At Trendyol İzmir Menderes the conveyor motors are fed from motor control centres grouped line by line. Thanks to the withdrawable outgoing modules, a faulty motor means the module is replaced as a whole and the line runs again within minutes. Warehouse lighting is collected on a dedicated branch in this high-bay space; when the racking layout changes, the lighting circuits can be reconfigured.

Scope

Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture

The Devpan scope reaches from main distribution to the conveyor motor control centres and the warehouse lighting panels.

  • Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 3,200 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, main distribution with Form 4b internal separation.
  • Motor control centres (DevControl): Withdrawable motor outgoing ways with variable speed drives for the conveyor and sortation systems; IP54 enclosure.
  • Warehouse lighting panels (DevPower): High-bay lighting, aisle and loading dock circuits.
  • Sub-distribution boards (DevBox): Panels for the office areas, the charging stations and the technical rooms.
  • Power factor correction (DevComp): Detuned stepped compensation matched to the density of drives.

Engineering

Project-Specific Engineering Topics

Withdrawable motor outgoing ways

Each conveyor motor sits in its own withdrawable module; in the event of a fault the module is replaced as a whole and the line is back in service within minutes.

Drive density and harmonics

A large number of variable speed drives feeds the 5th and 7th harmonics; the compensation is selected with detuned reactors and provision is left for an active filter where required.

IP54 enclosures in a dusty environment

The dust of the warehouse environment calls for a raised degree of protection; because heat dissipation is harder in a sealed enclosure, the busbar cross-sections and the internal layout are arranged accordingly.

Electric forklift charging infrastructure

The charging stations are collected on a dedicated branch; because this load concentrates during the night hours, it is assessed separately in the peak load planning.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is an MCC preferred in logistics centres?

Because hundreds of small motors are collected in one structure and fault response is handled from a single point. Thanks to the withdrawable motor outgoing ways, a faulty module is replaced as a whole and the line runs again within minutes. That speed cannot be achieved with individual panels scattered around the building.

What is the installed power at Trendyol İzmir Logistics Centre?

A distribution centre of this scale has an installed power of approximately 6,400 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 4 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is rated at 2 x 3,200 A with a short-time withstand current of 65 kA / 1 s.

Why is warehouse lighting collected on a dedicated branch?

For two reasons: in high-bay warehouses lighting accounts for a significant share of total consumption, and when it is metered separately the effect of improvement work can be followed. In addition, when the racking layout changes it is then enough to reconfigure the lighting branch alone.
