İstanbul Yamanevler Avrupa Konutları is a high-density residential project close to a public transport corridor. On this project Devpan produced the main distribution boards, the block metering panels and the motor circuits feeding the lift and car park groups.

About the Project
In dense residential projects the lift groups account for only a small share of the total installed power, yet they shape the distribution design noticeably. Starting currents are sudden and repetitive; variable frequency drives generate harmonics, and regenerative drives can feed energy back into the network.
At Yamanevler Avrupa Konutları the lift supply circuits are protected separately, and breaker tripping curves are selected so that starting current is not interpreted as a fault. On the car park side the jet fan groups and the lighting are collected on a separate branch. Compensation is built with detuned reactors against the harmonics produced by the lift drives, which prevents the capacitor stages entering resonance.
Devpan Scope and Switchboard Architecture
The Devpan scope reaches from main distribution to the block metering panels and the motor supply circuits.
- Main distribution boards (DevPanel): 2,500 A class, 65 kA / 1 s, main distribution with bus coupler arrangement.
- Block sub-distribution and metering panels (DevBox): Consumer metering and floor distribution.
- Lift and booster pump supply circuits: Separately protected outgoing ways with protection settings that allow for starting current.
- Car park panels (DevPower): Jet fan supply, lighting and fire scenario segregation.
- Power factor correction (DevComp): Automatic stepped compensation with 7% detuned reactors.

Project-Specific Engineering Topics
Lift starting current and protection settings
Lift drives draw a brief high current on starting. The magnetic trip threshold of the breaker is set above that transient but below the fault current.
Regenerative drives and reverse power flow
Regenerative lift drives can return energy to the network while the car descends. The metering and protection arrangement is selected to allow for that bidirectional flow.
Resonance risk from harmonics
A high density of drives increases the 5th and 7th harmonics. Detuned compensation is used so that the capacitor stages do not enter resonance with them.
Car park jet fan scenarios
Jet fans run at reduced speed in normal operation and at full speed under a smoke extraction scenario; motor outgoing ways and their protection are selected for both regimes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the lift supply circuit protected separately?
Because the lift load is characteristically different from other residential loads: it draws a brief high current on starting and its drive generates harmonics. A separately protected circuit allows the tripping curve to be set for that character and keeps a lift fault from affecting the floor lighting.
How do regenerative lift drives affect the switchboard?
Regenerative drives return the energy released as the car descends to the network. That means the direction of measurement can be bidirectional, so the power analyser and the protective devices must be selected to suit that flow.
What is the installed power at Yamanevler Avrupa Konutları?
A residential project of this scale has an installed power of approximately 4,800 kVA, with a typical transformer configuration of 3 x 1,600 kVA. The main busbar is rated at 2 x 2,500 A.
